Pie chart or a Pie graph

We have drawn many circles, round shaped things like ball, do you know circle is also used as a graph. This is the topic i want to discuss with you. Below you will find the definition of a pie chart and also an example for it.

Definition of a Pie chart:- Pie chart is round chart or a pie shaped chart. In other words it is a circular shaped chart.

Uses of a Pie chart:- Now, that you are aware of what a pie chart is, now lets know the uses of a pie chart. This helps us in comparing one single group out of many groups. It is used to displaying percentages. It helps us understand the information very easily. It is used in many ways like genders, age, income-expenditure and many more. This is also used even in comparing your marks in your subject. So, these are the advantages of pie chart in various field.

Below is a simple example of a Pie chart to explain you this.

The below information represents the John marks, draw the pie chart for that information

History → 53

English → 34

Geography → 45

French → 56

TOTAL = 180

Solution:

Since the angle around the centre is 360o, therefore

Central angle = value of the component × 360o/total value

Total degrees = 80° + 64° + 90° + 56° + 30° + 40° = 360°
