Facts of ratio

We been working for ratio, proportion and many other topics. We have solved so many problems, looked at the examples as per the topic and so on... Today lets do a bit different, lets learn on what are the facts of ratio? This post is going to add more knowledge to your existing knowledge on ratio.

Ratio:- It is a numerical relation between two quantities of the same kind. Now lets know what are the facts of ratio. The two numbers are written on either sides of the symbol ":". This is the symbol used for ratio.

Facts of Ratio:-

  1. Ratio is one way of comparing two quantities of the same kind of division.
  2. A ratio shows the relation between two quantities.
  3. A ratio tells how many times one number is greater/smaller than the other number. It does not have unit.
  4. A ratio always consists of two numbers or terms.
  5. The first term of the ratio is called the Antecedent and the second term is called the consequent.
  6. The antecedent and the consequent can not be changed.
  7. A ratio is always expressed ion its simplest form.
  8. In a ratio the two terms are always expressed as whole numbers.
  9. A ratio can also be expressed as fraction.
